Welcome to InKing Royalty’s January Blog Hop – our first hop of 2017! Today’s hop is filled with inspiring projects that feature each artist’s take “Love is in the Air.” This is the best time of year to start planning your Valentine’s Day projects. There are amazing, new products in Stampin’ Up!’s Occasions Catalog – and NOW is the best time to get them. We are excited to share our projects with you and hope they inspire you! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
Today I went totally off the range/ranch! I didn’t really want a lovey-dovey card and I did not think I wanted pink so where to go from there??? Well check it out…
CUT – A) cut open the package of crumb cake notecards B) cut 1-3.25 x 4.75 of pool party C) cut 1-1 x 3.25 of crumb cake D) cut 1-1 x 3 of pool party, island indigo & crumb cake
STAMP – sentiment on 1 x 3 crumb cake & delicate details on 1 x 3.25 crumb cake
BIG SHOT – take 3.25 x 4.75 of pool party insert in falling petals tief and run thru big shot so that 3.25 edge is at the top of the tief (gives appearance of the falling petals of rain on a window)
MORE CUTTING – A) fussy cut the edges of the delicate details so that it looks like a window valance B) cut lace doily in half (use very vanilla side) C) stack sentiment using paper snips to reduce the size of the triple layer incrementally (I just eyeballed) and then cut edges to your liking
ADORN – using Wink of Stella sparkle the falling petals as well as portions of the doily and the delicate details.
ADHERE – A) using fast fuse adhere the doily and the delicate details to the top of the pool party layer B) adhere the pool party layer to the note front and adhere the sentiment
For details about the products used for this card keep reading to the bottom of this post.

How super sweet! The wink of stella add just the right tuch of glitzs!!!
Hello friend! Thanks for your comment… I do love me a little glitz!!!
Karen, I love your nontraditional Valentine’s Day color scheme! These colors are so gorgeous together and would be perfect for a card to give to someone who is not a big pink fan (which is most if not all of the guys in my life). I also love the slanted sentiment with all the layers; I would never have thought to put it at an angle like that, but it looks awesome and adds an extra element of interest on an already gorgeous card.
Thanks for the awesome introduction, too!
Natalie, thank you for your kind words. Reds and pinks are not really my thing so this was right up my alley – so to speak! So glad you joined us and I look forward to seeing your creativity! K
love this color combo! so elegant!!
Thank you Lisa!
I love this sweet card! It definitely stands out among all the usual Valentine’s Day colors and would also be a beautiful card for a new baby, too!
new baby love… great idea! Thanks for your kind words 🙂
Beautiful card, Karen! I love that you expressed every feeling of sweetness and love without pink or red. The blue is just beautiful! So much gorgeous texture and dimension on this card. So glad you hopped with us today!
You are too sweet 🙂 Thanks for creating this hop each month… it takes me out of my comfort zone and it is just what I need!!! Thanks again – K
Wow, this is amazing, Karen! Love the colors scheme. The lace stamp, doily, and falling hearts make this a very special card. Thanks for sharing!
Karen, what a beautiful card! Love, love, love the texture. Also the color scheme is gorgeous. Pool Party is my favorite color!
Lory, so sweet of you to say… I too love Pool Party!
Love how you’ve combined these vintage touches with a modern layout and non-traditional color scheme. Super pretty.
🙂 Shawn… hope to see you in Savannah!
Such a beautiful card. I am a big fan of unconventional colors. The blues and browns work so well together for VD!
Thanks Pam… can’t wait to see you soon at Subway!
I really like your colors and the banner at the top. A great valentine card.
Thanks Lynn!
